It’s Apple Season! In fact, here in the Fraser Valley, you and your family or friends can pick them yourselves… right off the branch! There are many great ways to enjoy apples this time of the year… but may we suggest baking your very own Apple Crumble? Served hot out of the over and topped with vanilla ice cream and maple syrup, this recipe is an easy crowd pleaser that makes even the beginner baker look like a pro! It’s a great project to get the kids to help you with… and will leave the home smelling DELICIOUS!
Ingredients
Apple Mix:
6 large apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Crumble Topping:
1 cup brown sugar
½ cup chilled butter
¾ cup flour
¾ cup old-fashioned oats
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F
Apple Mix: Toss apples in a bowl to coat with the sugar and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon. Pour apple mix into a 9 inch baking dish.
Crumble Topping: Combine brown sugar, oats, flour, and cinnamon. Mash cold butter into the oats mixture with forks, creating large crumbs
Evenly spread Crumble Topping on the Apple Mix in the baking dish.
Bake approx 40 minutes until golden.
